German Parliamentarian Leads Delegation to Indiana

On February 7th, the Indiana-Germany Business Council was delighted to welcome Mr. Michael Link MdB, Member of the German Bundestag and Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation at the German Federal Foreign Office to Indiana. Accompanying Mr. Link was Mr. Michael Ahrens, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chicago, Mr. Sven Schumacher, Honorary German Consul to Indiana, and Ms. Theresa Monaghan, Senior Policy Advisor at the German Federal Foreign Office. The Delegation arrived in the Hoosier State with a mission to strengthen the cooperation between Indiana and Germany.

The delegation began their visit at Butler University where they received a campus tour by students studying German at the university. Mr. Link then made his way to the Lacy School of Business where he gave remarks on the need to strengthen US-German ties to more than fifty participants. The delegation then headed north to join Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam, two of the German Wine Queens, and community leaders for a lunch gathering.

The delegation then met with Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb to discuss more about the Indiana-Germany relationship and the opportunities to foster stronger ties. In between a meeting with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Mr. Link also met with several elected officials including Rep. Ethan Manning, Rep. Carey Hamilton, Indianapolis City Council President Vop Osili, and Indianapolis City Councilor Dan Boots.

The delegation ended their day in Indiana with a reception at Tastings Indianapolis with 75 leaders comprised of The International Center’s Morris Series cohorts, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College’s Global Leadership Program, and IGBC Members.
